CHAPTER NINETEEN

Having left the group behind, Ash breathed a silent sigh of relief. She loved Joe, but she was a solo player at heart. Her social skills had already been supremely put to the test and her gauge was running on empty. She pulled her hood a little lower as she entered the bank, wanting time to herself. She still nodded at the tellers, but made a beeline for an open interface as she considered her next steps.

First consolidating her pinions and claws into bank storage, she realized she had 3308 pinions. That was … disheartening. She really wanted to turn in ten thousand, but she was already taking serious experience penalties from the crows. She would still wait to turn that quest in. As much as she didn’t want to keep killing crows, she’d barely kept any of the accessories for herself, and she needed them as sacrifices if she wanted to upgrade Benji’s ring. A bit more solo killing there would hopefully net some of those, so maybe it would be okay, even if it was tedious.

Speaking of Benji’s ring … She pulled the lone rare spider silk she had out, along with seven slimes and the rest of her crystals, also transferring the Rainbow Starflowers back into her herb pouch. She needed to hit the auction house and see if there were any up for grabs there. She supposed she should also grab any low level items to sacrifice. She had 185 gold right now, but 125 of that would go to getting her spells, so she didn’t want to spend too much. Better to get a bit more.

Instead, she pulled out one of each of the horned daggers, the poisonous dagger, and her beginner mystic dagger. She was about to replace them with the three orange items that were tempting her to sacrifice, but she’d marked them out for the other group. No. She kept those in her inventory along with the skillbooks and recipes for them. They were leveling near the Mage Academy, so she’d just stop in to see them, she supposed. She could do that … briefly. After she spent some time in an inn for a while where no one could talk to her. Yeah, that sounded like a plan.

She knew she was trying to convince herself, and took one last look at her bank and inventory lists. With five open slots in the bank, she didn’t feel like she needed to take anything else with her. She could take the extra mystic woven starflower rings and sell them to the enclave, but not wanting them to be on sale for the blessed, she was about to dismiss that idea. In the end, she shoved one into her inventory.

Whatever. She closed her bank interface, stopping briefly at the gold exchange to check. To her surprise, the 40
